If you’ve ever wondered what actually happens in a cuddle therapy session—or what it feels like—you’re not alone. For many, the idea sounds comforting… but unfamiliar. Is it just lying down? Do you have to talk? What if it feels awkward?

Let me walk you through the experience, from the inside out.

🌿 First: Safety and Grounding

From the moment you walk in, the focus is on you feeling safe and respected. We start by checking in—how you’re feeling physically, emotionally, and what you might need from the session. There’s no rush. It’s about building trust, not diving into closeness before you're ready.

The space is cozy, quiet, and softly lit. You’ll notice soothing scents, blankets, maybe soft music in the background—it's all designed to help your nervous system start to relax before we even touch.

🧘🏽‍♀️ Then: Ease Into Comfort

Touch begins gradually, based on your comfort level. That might be something as simple as sitting side by side, hand-holding, or gentle touch on the back or shoulders. Some clients prefer to start in a seated position; others like lying down in a comforting hold like spooning or a heart-to-heart hug.

You’re always in control—every position, every bit of contact, is fully discussed and consensual. This isn’t about pressure or performance. It’s about receiving care in a way that feels good to you.

🫶 What It Feels Like: Soft, Safe, and Real

A lot of people say the first thing they feel is relief. Their body exhales. The noise of the outside world quiets down. For once, they don’t have to “do” anything—they just get to be.

You might feel warmth, both physical and emotional. A sense of being held—not just by arms, but by presence. It’s common to notice your breathing slowing down. Thoughts begin to settle. Sometimes emotions rise up—tears, laughter, or quiet reflection. That’s all welcome. It’s part of the release.

There’s no need to talk unless you want to. Some clients open up and share things they’ve been holding in. Others stay quiet the whole time. Both are perfectly okay.

🧸 What We Might Do

Each session is tailored to you, but here are a few things we might explore together:

Classic spooning or cradling positions

Hand-holding or back-stroking

Gentle conversation or shared silence

Deep breathing together to sync and ground

Lighthearted play like laughter, silly stories, or comfort objects

A “silent pause” to reset, breathe, and just exist

☕ After the Session: Gentle Landing

Once the cuddling ends, we take a few minutes to decompress. This is called aftercare—a moment to reflect, sip tea or water, and gently transition back to your day. I always make space for your thoughts, feedback, or just quiet time if that’s what you'd prefer.
